Swift Clan : Missing and Found

“All cats old enough to catch their own prey gather at Sharp Point!” Quickstar yowled. Quickstar counted the cats in his mind. Mouser, Kitty-cat, Goldenfur, Silverclaw, Ravenpaw, the four kits- then he shook his head and growled. Jaguarpelt was not there. “Jaguarpelt?” he mewed, expecting her to appear at the door of her den. She did not. “Were did you see Jaguarpelt last?” he mewed worriedly to the cats. They looked at each other guiltily. They had not seen her last night. Ravenpaw finally spoke up. “She went on a hunting patrol in the evening.” Quickstar panicked. Where was she? Suddenly a cat burst out of the undergrowth surrounding the camp. Panting, Jaguarpelt looked around the small circle of cats gathered. Quickstar’s eyes grew big, then slanted into slits. “Where were you last night?” Jaguarpelt held his gaze. “I was hunting on a patrol, Quickstar,” she mewed quietly. She caught his eye. She was pleading him to keep silent and ask her later. He returned her gaze curiously. Where had she been? He shook the thoughts out of his mind. Jaguarpelt would have to wait. “Mouser and Kitty-cat, come here.” he meowed. They came up beside him, and he looked at them proudly. They were now well-trained apprentices. They were ready to become warriors. “Mouser and Kitty-cat, do you promise to obey the warrior code, and defend the clan to your last breath?” “Yes! I do,” Mouser mewed excitedly. Kitty-cat was equally excited, although he held his manners. “Yes, Quickstar, I do.” Quickstar took a deep breath. He hoped they would like his name choices. “Swift Clan, I give you Mouseclaw and Snappedtail!” Snappedtail gaze pierced his mind. He was happy with his name. He mewed slyly above the yowls of agreement below, “My name fits me.” He did have a snapped tail. Mouseclaw yowled his happiness. “Thank you for my name, Quickstar!” Quickstar noticed that Mouseclaw glanced at Goldenfur, his eyes shining bright. She returned his gaze with joyfulness. For the first time, Quickstar noticed she was pregnant.
