River Clan cheered. Fuzzypelt had returned with barely a scratch. They were assembling now to hear her story. Badgerpaw fidgeted excitedly next to Rosepaw, the medicine cat apprentice. Excitement glinting in her eyes, Rosepaw nearly jumped up and down in excitement.

"It's been moons since we've gotten a good story like this!" she exclaimed eagerly.

Fuzzypelt began to speak. (read River Clan 10-11 for detail)

"The fox attacked but once, then ran away into the other forest. When I thought I had been victorious, a bobcat attacked and nearly tore me to shreds."

Gasps erupted from the crowd, intent on the adventurous story.

Eying the crowd and silencing, Fuzzypelt continued,"When I felt as though I would lose, two stranger cats suddenly attacked the bobcat. They chased it off, wounding it severly. Never before have I met two cats with such power as these. Introducing themselves as Red and Ash, who lived in the other forest, they explained that they had been tracking the bobcat, Kirsha, starting at sunrise."

Murmurs of respect flowed through the crowd as Fuzzypelt ended the speech with a flick of her tail. Through the rest of the day, every cat was talking amongst themselves about the exciting encounter.

"Hey, Badgerpaw, what do you think about the story?" Rosepaw's voice broke through Badgerpaw's thoughts.

"Amazing," Badgerpaw answered earnestly.

Rosepaw turned away without speaking again and padded over to relax in her nest. Badgerpaw glanced at the sky and noticed the moon peeking sleepily over the horizon. A new day would be born, soon. He stalked quietly off into his nest, trying hard not to disturb the already sleeping cats. Tomorrow was a new day with a new start. He drifted into sleep gazing at the stars twinkling brightly, jumping around as if they were alive.
