"Are you sure this is the right thing to do?" Beestripe asked, suddenly doubting their decision to leave.
"Of course it is, frog-brain!" hissed Sharpclaw through the darkness.
The two cats stealthily made their way out of River Clan and into the forest beyond.
"Where do we start?" Beestripe asked excitedly.
Sharpclaw growled quietly, "Where the trail ended, over by the river."
Beestripe asked, "Why-"
She was cut off by Sharpclaw's tail muffling her speech.
"Quiet, Beestripe!"
Before she could retaliate, a shadow burst out of the reeds lining the river and attacked Sharpclaw suddenly.
Flailing in pain, Sharpclaw yowled and struck back. The two cats tumbled dangerously close to river's edge. Running with all of her strength, Beestripe launched herself at the attacker. She was stopped in mid-air by another cat. Breath knocked out of her, she lay unmoving where her attacker had left her. The yowls of the cats faded into the background, and Beestripe closed her eyes to darkness.
As she slept painfully, another more graceful cat stepped out of the tall reeds and sniffed Beestipe's pelt. Green eyes glinting in the moonlight, she lifted Beestripe and carefully carried her away. The wind ruffled the stranger cats fur as she disapeared into the darkness.
